At what stage of a startup can an investor be interested in a project?

At what stage can investors be interested in a startup? After all, most startups are initially unprofitable, it's too risky to invest a lot of money in an unknown project, which is not a fact that it will ever go into plus.

When a startup reaches operating profit, it becomes more interesting for investors, provided, of course, that the startup business has the potential to scale. At the same moment, the cost of a startup increases and the desire of the creators to sell their shares on favorable terms to investors, and not to themselves, decreases - they get the opportunity to choose the investor who will offer the best option.
However, investors may be interested in a startup even before it reaches operating profit. True, they will ask for a good piece of a startup for this.

Try to get grants, great support will be at the initial stage and you don't have to give any shares!
