Asterisk text module, how to work with it, send messages and images to offline users?

Good day to all!
There is a lot of experience with Asterisk, but no experience at all with the text module in it. As far as I understand, in the latest versions of Aster, a text message module has appeared that allows you to organize something like Jabber-a on top of Aster, right?
There are two questions on this topic:
1) Is it possible to organize the delivery of messages to offline users on this module?
2) Is it possible to transfer images using this module?
And additionally, if not difficult, throw an example of using this module (dialplans, configs ...) and, if available, a link to the manual. I can't find anything meaningful.
Thank you very much in advance!

Good afternoon!
The latest versions (>asterisk 10) use the SIMPLE ( WIKI ) protocol feature.
Jabber module allows you to send messages via xmpp via dialplan. See the JabberSend() command (for example, notification of a missed call), it seems that you can still send the status, but it's not easy, not convenient and "why?")
And for SIMPLE in sip [general] specify:

accept_outofcall_message = yes
outofcall_message_context = messages
auth_message_requests = no

And in your context, add:
Then, if the equipment / softphone allows, it will be possible to exchange messages.
But if you need a full-fledged IM, then look towards "sharpened" solutions. OpenFire, for example.
