Arrows and tab not working in tmux. Why and how to fix?

In tmux, when you press Tab , the file/directory name is not padded, just tab(spaces) is entered
. Same problem with arrows: ^[[A(up), ^[[B(down) etc.

Because of what this can happen and how to fix it?

And without tmux there is no such problem?

Perhaps the problem is in the environment variable term(or TERM).
