Are x64 and x86 the same thing?

I have a downloaded program and it shows like x64 - I understand this is a 64-bit system, right? and another question is x86 which system is 32 or 64?

x86 is a derivative of the marking of 32-bit Intel processors (I8086...I80586)
x64 is a shameful name for AMD64 technology

x86 is the architecture. x86_64 is 64 bits. But usually they don't bother when discussing different architectures.
32 bits is usually referred to as i386, i586, etc.
