Almost all algorithms were written in the sixties of the last century. Knutt "The Art of Programming" volume 1 - 1968, volume 2 - 1969, volume 3 - 1973. Since then, very little new has appeared in programming.

If you want to be a cool specialist, then you must constantly learn new things. Nobody needs 60-year-old programmers who know nothing but assembler and Fortran, and if they work somewhere, then this is clearly not a dream job.
