Are there services for remote hosting of virtual machines?

I use vagrant and docker so as not to litter the host system. And at some point I thought, because clouds are so popular now, so why not host this virtual machine somewhere in the cloud, like a github turnip, so that you can fork it if necessary or make it private. In general, the point is to keep only ide on the host, and the entire environment was in the cloud, while you could download the hard disk file of this virtual machine and hack it to any hypervisor if necessary + optionally synchronize this cloud virtual machine with a certain config. I will give an example of use. Let's say the team leader has set up a working environment, he has a config from this environment + an image, he hosted all this on such a cloud service, the developers forked the whole thing into their cloud and are developing if the working environment suddenly changes, then it’s enough to synchronize with the repository and you have a working environment again, while all development takes place in the cloud, you don’t have to waste space on ssd / memory / processor time / laptop battery in the end, but the benefits of the virtual environment itself are not worth talking about costs. Is there anything similar, and if not, how much would it be in demand?
