Design is the content and how you compose it and your state will look like. website. There is no clear concept in web design that this is how a blog should look like, but this is how a website for a bank should look like.
Therefore, stick to the established rules of design and content ( useful books on this topic ).
My opinion: for the state. site, first of all, versatility and ease are important (ease of perception of the site by any person, color, font, etc.). Use a grid to visually organize your content.
