Are there different editions of books by year?

Good afternoon, dear toasters!
The other day I ordered McFarland's book for myself - the "new big css book" of 2019 edition, and 2017 came to me, I want to know how much these books differ? Is it worth returning the book and hoping that next time what you need will come, or can you safely read this one?
And which book to choose to start learning js:
1) Nick Morgan - javascript for kids. Programming tutorial.
2) head first - learning js programming
3) your version (possibly more recent, since these books have editions of 2017 and 2016, respectively)
Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, it is different, but if you just need to understand the basics of CSS, then 2017 will be enough. It is better to return, of course, based on the fact that there were not those characteristics when ordering (not very beautiful at all).
To start learning JavaScript, you should not take a book right away, but start with online tutorials, for example learn.javascript.ru
Better this way, because most textbooks immediately give more or less in-depth knowledge of JS, they can be considered practically reference books, and at the initial stage you need 80% practice and 20% theory, approximately. Otherwise, you will get stuck for a long time, become uninteresting and burn out to study. After studying the basics, an understanding will come of where to move on and what topics are incomprehensible - you can already refer to the textbook.
