Are there any implementations of the structure of the news feed and reposts?

Hi all!

There is a task (startup) to make a narrowly thematic mini social network, in which there will be:
- a user's event feed (as in FB and VK and everywhere else)
- a user subscription (if he publishes something, you will see it in his feed)
- the user can create several types of posts (just a text / picture, or a video, or a note)
- reposts of other posts

I can’t figure out which way to dig, maybe there is an open source in php, for an easy start with subsequent twists.

What structure to use for this (architecture)
What database? thought about rethinkdb, there is a subscription to data changes. but not sure if it will fit.

Something seems to me that there should be ready-made tape engines, with online updates, or maybe I'm wrong.

I understand that this is a very broad topic. but advise throw useful links, please.
