Are there any decent alternatives for html filtering besides htmlpurifier.org?

The site has a module of articles, before saving the html text of the article, you need to remove extra tags, extra attributes from tags, convert line breaks to br, convert links to html.
Now I use the htmlpurifier.org library, but it works very strangely, are there worthy alternative libraries?
