Are IT specialties in chemistry in demand?

Good afternoon!
Background: at school there was a strong interest in programming and chemistry, but I decided to go to study at the university as a chemist, in the hope that I could combine my 2 passions. And now, finishing my last year, I understand that I still cannot find possible jobs in the fields related to chemistry, where one would have to do programming.
There are a lot of people from different areas here, can anyone tell me in which area you can find yourself?
There is only one reservation: I do not want to leave Russia. And so many pharmaceutical companies use machine learning to find new drugs ( www.kaggle.com/c/MerckActivity), create software to make life easier for chemists and biologists ( www.acdlabs.com/),this is all very interesting for me, but all these companies are not located in Russia, so they are not suitable for me.
Perhaps I look too narrowly, or do not notice the beam in my own eye? I hope for your help. Thank you!

Demanded, of course. For example, our company, among other things, is developing a computer simulator - a liquid chromatograph emulator, where there is chemistry, programming, and computational mathematics.

It turns out a lot of words - I took it out in a separate answer.
@maksimov_aleks the fact of the matter is that you don't come up with an idea yourself. The idea, as you were told here, should suggest the need for automation.
Here is an example: I wrote a program in vba in excel that read the binary code from the file issued by the spectrometer. Given that I did not know any file algorithms, I made several text reports from the program that issued this report and deciphered all the information from them. The delay time was coded very cunningly - a matter of special pride :) As a result, I read data from 255 spectra, 1024 channels in each + plus all the data for each spectrum. Can you imagine how long it takes to do it manually? 255 was enough and was determined by the limitation on the number of columns, since the old Excel was on the computer. vba chose because he knew only him. Don't throw stones at me. By the way, the file format is hst, the histogram file, but the encoding algorithms were their own, as stated in the documentation.
As a result, this made it possible to make long-term measurements. My colleague simply selected a file from the folder that was generated by the spectrometer program and received all the calculations in excel.
By education, by the way, I am a design engineer, ship nuclear power plants. So all roads are open, there would be a desire :)

work in your specialty, develop in it along the way, and then think about how you can improve your work with the help of information technology, maybe write software for simulating chemical reactions or something like that. Basically, get creative.

You can combine) Look better.
You are looking for a job in your specialty, then you are looking for ways out of it to your potential.

Programming and designing the structure and properties of chemicals is an actual trend in the world.
