Are files from a computer infected with a ciphervirus dangerous?

Good day.
I picked up the [email protected] harma encryption virus on the PC, an external HDD was connected to the PC, which I managed to pull out before all the content was encrypted. Is it possible to safely use files from the HDD that the virus did not have time to encrypt? (file formats are mostly wav and mp3 if that matters)
Thanks in advance for your help!

They don't pose any danger, it's legit.

Depends on how the ransomware started. Maybe it launched through a vulnerability in the mp3 decoder or some other format that has files on a removable drive, for example.
