Are domains registered many years ago more valuable?

Often when selling domains (not websites), for example .com, they write that the domain is already 5-10 years old and is presented as an advantage, why? What is the difference if the .com domain is only a week old, for example. Does it somehow affect SEO if there was no content and is it worth considering when buying / selling? Thank you.

Your reverse logic has worked in vain.
Not untwisted - not valuable.
But untwisted, yes. Appreciated. Depending on the spin.
Untwisted - it means that it did not arise yesterday. Just because.
And to conclude from this that all old domains are expensive is not true.
The old ones, not promoted, if they are valued more, then for a penny, there is not much sense in them.
Designed for a fool. Old without traffic - not so useful.
If you want to overpay and so that it is not in vain, then before buying you need to check what kind of traffic goes to them, if any.

There is another nuance - ease of use. It is easier/easier to remember and type short names, especially if they are not just a bunch of random letters, but meaningful words. Try to find a free 3-letter domain name - I'm sure you won't find it, they're all taken (I guess even random sets). 4-letter, perhaps, you will find, but with great difficulty, for the same reason. Longer ones are easier.
So, if they sell you an old short / meaningful name - take it, it's a value, for the above reason.
