Any cooler can be put into any motherboard, regardless of the socket?

I have an old lga 1155 socket processor, I take a new AM4 processor, I went to look for a new cooler but found that they support all sockets, including the old lga 1155, are the old coolers also compatible with all sockets?

Not any. Coolers that support many sockets have special fasteners that allow you to adjust the mount to a specific socket. The kit can also include various adapters, alternative mounts for different sockets. You can also buy these adapters separately and independently adapt the existing cooler to a specific socket.

AM4 came out in 2017.
If the cooler is older, it is unlikely that it will fit.
