Android. How to get interface events without using Java?

The console application on Android needed to add a reaction to interface events.
Found that event records are stored in the /dev/log/events file.
What other ways are there to receive interface events without resorting to parsing log files?
For example, the same D-Bus?
How is the low-level event system implemented in Android in general?
