Amateur BitCoin mining - is the game worth the candle?

There are several regular machines (something like Core 2 Duo) and an underloaded Xeon server in a rack. All without a GPU. In principle, you can set it to thresh at night (during the day it is not desirable for the same server to puff heavily - it is in the working room, the noise will interfere with people). There was a logical (for those who did not understand) the idea to set the threshing of bitcoins. The question is - can you squeeze a couple of hundred bucks for a beer at least for a month?

I advise you to start by studying the theory - FAQ on mining
There is no point in mining on processors, do not torture the hardware. But on AMD video cards from the 5 *** series and above, it is quite profitable. Do not listen to scarecrows about a halving of emission, for a miner, only his hashrate, BTC cost and complexity are important in essence. This is where all the other calculations come from.

@DanielWolf

can be roughly calculated.
now on the pool - mining.bitcoin.cz the total speed is 2000 GHash / Sec
and judging by the statistics, they generate a block, about once an hour. 1 block = 50 bitcoins, we will consider $10 for a bitcoin, i.e. $500 per hour
is
2000 Ghash/sec ~ $12000/day
1 Ghash/sec ~ $6/day 1
Mhash/sec ~ $0.005/day
GPU costs 2.1$.hour, there are 2 x NVIDIA Tesla “Fermi” M2050 GPUs
on CUDA mining is bad, but the craftsmen say that if you cut it with a file, you can squeeze out about 500 Mhash/sec from the card.
we will assume that we will squeeze 1 Ghash / sec from two
, it turns out that we will give the Amazon - 50 and we will get 6
unprofitable.
iron can be seen here:
en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
the "coolest" core 2 duo that is in the table (Core 2 Duo E7300) gives out 8 Mhash/sec, that is, somewhere around $0.04 per day
, IMHO, electricity is more expensive.

Only the GPU makes sense these days.

I don't think it makes sense anymore. I didn't follow the development of bitcoin, but I was mining two years ago. Then, for 2 months of continuous mining, I did not remember how many bitcoins, but a little more than 8 thousand rubles. Selling something around $20 for bitcoin, i.e. about 14 bitcoins. Mining at 5850, the speed was about 450 megahash per second.

There will be no "a couple of hundred bucks" a month, a dead idea. Previously, the top Radeons that were taken for mining paid off, now it seems to be already and it does not pay off. Mining with the help of the CPU generally gives meager performance, compared to vidyahi.

You can connect to the bitcoin pool, but as they correctly suggest, the game is no longer worth the candle. At the end of the year, another increase in difficulty is expected, after which 25 BTC per block will be issued. It is unlikely that this will pay off the cost of electricity, but you will ruin your computers.

I would like to know if it makes sense in mining on Amazon's GPU servers? aws.amazon.com/ec2/#instance

I started mining cryptocurrencies on the genesis-mining cloud. I invested a little to test the profitability, while the expected payback period of investments is ~ 327 days, with a contract for 2 years, i.e. yield for 2 years at a constant exchange rate and complexity (which is unlikely) ~ 223%. If you are interested in trying it, use the promo code na5Bj1 when buying power on the site, get a 3% discount.

By the way, who will say anything about the recently appeared cloud-mining services? cex.io/ is the largest of them.
In my opinion, this is better and more convenient than ordering devices. I bought gigahashes and mine. If, however, you can find a good price.

No one has said anything about cex.io yet, sorry.
But in general there are a lot of people there and the auctions are active.
I even made a special simple (for now) bitcoin mining calculator for cloud services for this business. Although suitable for individual miners, there are enough settings.

I wrote my cryptocurrency mining calculator
http://Bitcoin.RF/calc/ Calculates
profit for bitcoins, litecoins, dogecoin and many other forks.
You can set the amount of increase in complexity between recalculations, the power of the computer and the course.
Displays a graph of income for the interval between difficulty recalculations and the estimated difficulty.

Earnings are good, only if you invest well in equipment, you won’t go far on 6 cards. Due to the hype in the Russian Federation, video cards have become a shortage, and those who have them have raised prices, which is why the cost has increased. If you think that you will buy one machine, giving away the last money and will cut millions, you are mistaken. What is really raised in production, you need to really invest. Advice on how to save on equipment, buy in China, do not feed Russian "entrepreneurs" who brazenly raise prices. In order to deliver the goods without problems and customs does not confiscate the equipment, it is better to turn to trusted transport companies such as http://jeracargo.com, transit plus. They will not only deliver the goods to your apartment, they will also find trusted suppliers at the best prices.
