To advise something, you need to understand why the original does not suit you, which works great there?
The ssh utility in Ubuntu is installed. To install ssh-server, use apt install ssh
And so, telnet (access to the console, but without encryption and additional functions) and ftp (access to files, again, without encryption) can be alternatives - you should absolutely not use either one I advise.
If you don’t like the console, there is Webmin, suitable for simple or typical tasks (I won’t advise you to study the console right away, but over time you will come to this anyway and refuse web admins if you administer a lot).

There is no alternative for openssh. There was once a Finnish ssh2, but it died and decomposed a long time ago ...
