kali is a distro based on debian, the main goal is to provide a set of software for testing security and opening vulnerabilities out of the box, in general, all this can be obtained on a regular debian if desired, and on any other linux
alpine - if I'm not mistaken, an independent distro aimed at the minimum of resources spent, in itself, in my opinion, is not particularly viable, except perhaps on embedded systems, but it is very popular thanks to the docker project with its ideology "1 container - 1 service"
