Aligning the CD/DVD drive?

How can I align the Sony DVD drive laser?
Recently I bought a Sony DVD-ROM with a dead engine on a local forum (for 11 UAH), installed a working engine from an old Sony CD-RW into it, everything started up, but it does not detect discs. I suspect that the problem is in the correct installation of the laser.
Thanks in advance!

As an option, a cleaning disk is inexpensive, it is sold in the same place where they sell blanks :)

Isn't there a stepper motor? If so, then the number of revolutions may simply not match.

There, on the scarf into which the lasers themselves are soldered, there are two tuning resistors barely visible to the naked eye. One sets the voltage on the DVD wavelength laser LED, the other sets the CD wavelength. They can be twisted at random with a watch screwdriver. Not sure if it will help, of course.
And do not look directly into the laser, otherwise the retinal burn, they say, is invisible at first.
