Ajax form submission - validation not working. Bug or feature?

In the first case, everything is correct. The button has a submit type.
In the second case, the button has the button type, and we catch its click using javascript (jquery is used in the example). When clicked, submit the form. Form field validation not working.

Obviously, you can't force native validation from a browser.
