Advice and recommendation about the registration form in Bitrix?

They threw a task on Bitrix: make f. registration in which there will be an SMS confirmation (I plan to use ajax).
I read on the Internet that there are a bunch of methods: from customizing an existing form to creating your own with 2.0 components.

Please direct me in the right direction, where to dig?
