Lately I've been using LyX, a WYSIWYM editor. It’s very convenient for me to type formulas in it - I don’t have to constantly poke the mouse like in Word, it supports various input methods: for example, to create a fraction, you can type “ \frac
”, or you can use a combination Alt+M,F.
. To display it, it uses its own engine that does not refer to MiKTeX, so it may not understand some TeX commands, leaving them as bare code, but when compiling, of course, MiKTeX is used, and no problems arise.
