3.5mm mic on macbook

I checked a lavalier with 3.5 mm on a macbook, almost all the sound turns into some kind of noise. Then I checked the same buttonhole already on another laptop with Windows and the sound became much better. Question: If I buy a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter, is it possible to improve the sound? If anything, then 3.5mm 4-pin.
