Yii2 Scheduled data check via cron via commands or via tests? How right?

There is a project in which I want to automate the reconciliation of certain data in the database. If there are any discrepancies, then write a log. So, is it better to describe the verification algorithm in commands and execute it by cron or use unit tests for this? I have never worked with them, so you need to understand. Are unit tests suitable for just this task. What do you say?
