XSS - vulnerability, how to exploit?

Hello. I found an XSS vulnerability on one site. I wrote to the developers, they don't care.
So here's how developers can be punished. What are the general ways to exploit XSS? Can I upload my script to the site?
PS Not very familiar with the web.
