Write a custom grid?

There is a psd layout
All content is in a 1180px grid, and the paddings on the left and right are 32px each (why did the author make 32px each?). I wanted to use the .container-fluid from the bootstrap 4 grid, but there are 15px paddings at 1200px wide. It would be possible to reset the paddings and put the necessary ones, but I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do.
And how should a site look like with a width of, say, 2000px, 2500px? What are the generally accepted rules for this?
