Work visa for a programmer with an education in business informatics?

Hello. I would like to know if anyone with an education in business informatics received a work visa in the West? How is this education generally classified there? Corresponds to computer science or related field?

No way. Just an international diploma. It is viewed only when obtaining a visa. Nobody else.

I would not generalize countries as "the West", since each country has specific procedures, which, by the way, change periodically. These procedures also differ significantly. For example, in obtaining a visa to the United States, as a rule, it goes through the employer, and to Australia - through the state.
If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about changing my specialty now, but in the fourth year (if I feel like it) I would start getting a second higher education, for example, according to 230105. As soon as the first specialty is technical, most subjects are re-credited. The only negative is that you have to pay for 5 semesters of the evening, but at the end you get two diplomas)

The West is big, it all depends on the specific country. In some countries, a diploma is a requirement of employers, in others it is a legal requirement. In the Netherlands, for example, in principle, a diploma does not matter when hiring, in Germany, on the contrary.
And there is no clear answer how and what qualifies either. The example is again about Holland: after moving, you can return part of the taxes with the appropriate diploma, and so the compliance of your diploma is established by employees of local universities.
But in the end, these are all formalities that the employer can bypass in most cases in most countries. If the developer has extensive experience, developed Github and StackOverflow accounts, then a law degree will not be a hindrance.

It’s great to get a visa without having an education, what difference does it make, the company that hires you doesn’t look at education anyway.
