WordPress or MODx Revolution for corporate website?

In principle, I'm already leaning towards MODx, but still I would like to clarify with experts who have experience with both.
I know HTML and CSS by 70 percent, I know a little JS - I can edit simple someone else's code. Task: to create a simple website of the legal college, where there will be static pages (some of them are divided into categories), a search, a news section (read the blog) and a section with articles of a legal nature. I have my own design, I will either write the template myself from scratch, or redo some existing one, if I find it.
I have been familiar with WordPress for some time, now I am closely working with stores on InSales (there is a similar admin panel and the same principle of building pages using snippets - include header, include footer, etc.). Never done anything on MODx. What CMS would be better in terms of building a site with such a structure, as well as for use by a person who is not familiar with HTML?

WordPress is the leader, No. 1 in the market in terms of the share of sites, on the basis of which world brands make sites that have money for competent specialists who have not asked such questions for a long time.
MODx is a platform for geeks with a game of youthful maximalism in the ass and lovers of everything out of the ordinary. In terms of market share, it is not even close to WP. The fate of the marginals.
If you need to solve business problems, achieve goals, achieve results and earn money, then WordPress.
If you want to indulge your pride, challenge society, learn new interfaces, look for adventures in the ass, then MODx.
This is what the answer looks like in my head

Modx is easier. Although if a blunder on the template, then WP will roll.

ModX is a strange thing. It is between cms and framework. As a result, both CMS junk and frameworks like laravel and yii cannot be compared. I have no idea what project it is appropriate for. Apparently only when something cannot be solved on cms, and the framework has not yet studied more than one.
And if you take into account that your css and html are not completely, but with php in general 0. What kind of modX are we talking about? Only ready-made cms like wp and analogues.

Wordpress has become so popular due to its simplicity at the "domestic" level, for a user who needs a website "in five minutes". It is easy to install and configure without knowing a drop of code and technical knowledge. But only as a blog or homepage. If you need something more, then Wordpress is just garbage. For a developer in general - hell. There's a lot of 2000s-style shitty code, outdated architecture, no basic out-of-the-box stuff (such as multilingualism, caching, or SEO). To add a simple button to download an additional image to the page, you need to hard-code the code. In order to change the text to an icon on the SUBMIT button in a contact form, you need to hard-code the code. To add your own page type, you need to edit the code. In MODX, this is all done with a few mouse clicks from the admin panel. The fact that many well-known brands keep their websites on Wordpress is explained by the fact that the cost of development on this CMS is several times lower than that of others, due to the fact that there is very high competition among developers (again, due to the popularity of the platform) . Usually, "cool" sites on WP are changed from the inside beyond recognition. There, maybe 20-30 percent of the code remains from Wordpress - it is so clumsy and not flexible that almost everything needs to be rewritten and edited by yourself. And most plugins are shareware and low quality. due to the popularity of the platform). Usually, "cool" sites on WP are changed from the inside beyond recognition. Modx is also not without flaws. It is very difficult to make a normal multilingual and multicurrency store on it, it is difficult to master and without customizing the interface for the customer it is not suitable at all (the customer will not understand the admin panel, it needs to be modified, there is a lot of superfluous stuff).

To simplify, you can use a static site collector like https://help.github.com/articles/using-jekyll-as-a...

maybe a holivar call - why don't you consider Joomla?
there is a lot that can be done there - custom fields, a filter on them, even a custom admin panel
, colossal redefinition possibilities
, for example, I once did a joomle like this: lawyer's website

leaning towards modx

It is very strange. of the "big three" (WordPress/Joomla/MODX) this is the most problematic engine, it is usually chosen by "programmers" with specific inclinations.
Until recently, the owner / head of one studio did everything on Modex, because "he is the best", but now he does everything only on Bitrix, because "Bitrix is incomparably better."
Think about it, even Bitrix is better than Modex!
