Word file not saved on macbook. Causes?

Hello, I have never worked with apple technology. Therefore, I would like to know the possible causes of this error.
When saving a word file on a macbook, an error pops up: "Failed to create a working file. Check the amount of space on the boot disk."
More than half of the disk is free.
