Hello!
I want to assemble a low-budget htpc with minimal noise (preferably without it at all), so I look at the barebones: mother + processor with passive cooling.
Eye fell on AMD E-450.
According to the descriptions, the processor is quite powerful, but I'm wondering if it can chew heavy remixes of 30 - 40 GB.
Here is an example of such remixes.

You can play video content in 2 ways.
The first is by the forces of the video card (support from video cards and software is needed).
The second is by the forces of the processor.
For the first version, the E-450 has a completely normal video subsystem, which is enough for decoding and remuks.
But if you do not use a video card, but only with the help of a processor, then disappointment awaits you - the processor will choke. He can't do that.
So now you need to decide which players you plan to use and how to set them up for video playback by the video card.

There is an E-350.
30GB mkv H264+AAC plays, doesn't slow down (XVBA and VAAPI).
True, the video drivers are very crooked, to install, you need to pretty dance with a tambourine. There will be questions - contact in a personal.
Support for H264 Level 5.1 appeared just a week ago in the 12.6 driver.
xbmc-xvba the latter also bugs a bit.
But in general, the impressions are only positive. After a week of witchcraft, I have a working very budget HTPC.

Launched remixes in 1080i and 1080p on the e-350 "Game of Thrones", which on rutracker - work without brakes. The only thing, without a cooler, the gpu gets very hot, it reached 87 Celsius, but the series was watched without interruption, for 6 hours, it did not rise above 90 degrees. But my body is all in small holes, I don’t know how it will be in a closed one.

On the laptop with the E-350 I constantly watch 1080p. Of all the rips downloaded from the rutracker, all but one were picked up by DXVA and went without brakes. The ill-fated rip that didn't catch on was Ghost in the shell from some very shaggy year. But it's all under Windows.
