With/without canvas development of an online door constructor?

I am developing an online door designer.
Parameters that can change:
1. wood
2. glass (or it cannot be)
3. cashing out
4. handles
Requirements:
1. not flash (cross-browser, tablets / phones)
2. the door is static (does not stretch, glass up / down do not move and that's it, just layers on top)
3. option to load your background and stretch it under the door outline
4. admin panel of course
Questions: is it worth bothering with canvas or can jquery + change the background of the layers?
Is there any good article about such constructors? And as for the admin panel, to be honest, I don’t really have much idea how to do it right ...

I would not bother and use images.
