Windows 7 on an external hard drive will work?

The laptop is running out of disk space. Linux installed. Worked very little with Windows, mostly XP. If you take an external drive, will it be possible to install Windows 7 on it, so that it will work later? To the laptop intends to cling via USB-2. X-Plane 10 and CAD needed.
Thanks all for the replies.
I will install a dual block and I will save the data on the external one. Nothing else is given.

1. Upload a number. Conjunction with 0x80. If the accumulator is zero, we increment the register (for example, B), but if not zero, we move on to the next number.
2. Zero register B. The first number in the accumulator. Compare with B, if greater, replace the value of B with the value of the accumulator, otherwise move on to the next number. (if the numbers can be negative, then depending on the representation method, you need to put the smallest number in B, 0x80 or 0xff)
For both problems, use address arithmetic (HL) and you will be happy.
