In theory, it will master, of course ... It will master more. Here a lot depends on the capabilities of the server, and not on the VP. It is clear that if the server is weak, and the traffic is large, then it will not master it.
And so more than once I had to raise sites from the wokomerc and import a huge amount of goods.
Of the latter, there was work on integrating the woocomer with zumus, where products for the rest api were imported from zumus using nodeJS. And all this was stored in the VP database.

You can fill the database with hundreds of thousands of products, and the site will more or less work if everything is hard cached. But you will have to be very confused with the search for goods - connect an elastic, a sphinx or something else to chew such volumes.
So it's better to look towards Opencart or Bitrix.
