Will they hire a data science / ML position if they have knowledge, but no diploma?

I am 26. I worked for 2 years as a design engineer (I was engaged in the design and analysis of hydrodynamic systems in Matlab-e ... I was hired by acquaintance, because this position required a diploma). The math background is excellent. But when you look at vacancies, then VO is in the requirements. Even if the technology stack is clear to you, and you worked with it, then the only obstacle is higher education (after leaving the company, I studied data science for 1 year in terms of programming, because I already knew matan).

If I show my projects at a social security meeting, will it be a plus or will they also pay attention to the lack of VO?
+ I’m in my 3rd year of correspondence (I’m not smiling for 2 years ... freelancing gives a penny (can you tell me which exchange?)))

If you have knowledge then take it anyway. It's another matter what to have and to think what you have are two different things. Need to check
