Will the Macbook 12 work for a programmer?

I'm going to university next year. I'm going to enter the department of software engineering. You need a laptop for everyday wear, but also so that the performance is enough for the normal compilation of the project + Photoshop + easy editing. Question: is it worth buying a Macbook 12 (2015) for such cases or should I choose another option? Budget around $1000. I also considered Macbook pro 13 and Lenovo y700 15 options.
PS Thanks in advance!!!
PPS Suggested languages: C#, C++, Java, Phyton.

I advise you better to choose Air 2013-2015, always with 8GB of memory and preferably (if you can find it for the money) with Core i7. It will cover all the necessary tasks, plus it is just as light, works for a long time and does not heat up. The 13" firmware is much hotter, it works noticeably less autonomously and, due to the retina of the screen, the interface is slightly less responsive. Air has the only drawback - the usual TN matrix, but it is quite possible to work, but due to the fact that it is not demanding on hardware resources - that's all the rest works faster. Although the Macbook 12 is a good device for some tasks, I don’t recommend it for programming. Even if you just want to connect two phones for Android and iOS development, you already have to take adapters. This is a cool device for managers, executives, etc. who needs a good screen to work mainly with mail, documents, tables and the most minimal dimensions and beautiful appearance. For programming in the specified Air 13" is the best option.

This laptop is a stylish and expensive notebook.
The specs are just awful.

If it's a macbook, then you better look at the firmware, or air. Moreover, from 256 hard, so that the Windows in the bootcamp or virtual live comfortably.
Or yoga, yes.
Although my opinion is still for the MacBook - because it is a more universal solution. Because a macbook after some manipulations is also a good windows laptop, but from a vindobook a macbook is ... ambiguous, so to speak.
Who knows, suddenly you will be drawn to development for iOS ...

In a laptop like Lenovo, as a rule, it is noticeably better in percent and more RAM. And it seems to be important for your tasks. Light weight, good screen, pleasant keyboard are pleasant for carrying (but these are usually cool devices for managers). Acceptable poppies i5, i7, at least 8gb - these are models of 2013-2015.
(Personal experience - if possible, I work on an old, but convenient and powerful lenovo, I travel with a poppy pro)

Not suitable for a programmer.
Moreover, most often a laptop programmer without a separate monitor is akin to sex with rubber women.
It is possible, but the sensations ...
And for a student who will program for him 2 hours a day, it may come up

A MacBook Pro will definitely fit, and Air is enough. 12 may not pull, I don’t know, I haven’t programmed it.
Lenovo should not be taken for that kind of money
