Will it be possible to fully upgrade from Debian 7(32) to Debian 9(32) on a VPS?
DD. I wanted to take a simple VPS for various pleasures, but the hoster for such machines gives fresh Debian (9) only 64 bit, but Debian 7 can also be taken 32 bit. Since the machine has far less than 4GB of RAM, I don’t think it makes sense in a 64-bit system (am I mistaken?). If I take Debian 7 32-bit, will I be able to fully upgrade to Debian 9 (32-bit)? From 7 to 9 in a hurry will not work. First up to 8 then up to 9.
But be aware of this excerpt from the Debian wiki:
That is, what you sawed out (especially if you used it) will fall off.
And you can only upgrade to the same bit depth that you have now. Those. 32 by 32, 64 by 64.
