Will a site with little content rank?

Hello.
There is a site almost on one screen, it has a Header with h1, h2 with keywords, h6 and a descriptor, and h3 a call to action, and there is a site footer.
Customized meta tags title, discriptor, keywords and microsize og.
Question: Will this site somehow rank in search engines for seo?
And what happens if you specify the rel cannonical tag and on the main page, where there is more content?

@opium

ranking is not only an internal action, if you have a million good links on a page, then it will be in the top for all queries;
if you specify a canonical, then nothing from this page will be taken into account, in fact, you will remove it from the search

Puma Thailand , about canonical is not entirely correct in my opinion, this tag indicates "canonical", the original page, when it is available at several addresses ( https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/13906...
a16a , at the expense of your question. It strongly depends on the subject and promoted queries. It is clear that if the top is full of sites with content, then either direct or do something similar, but better.
BUT more than once I have seen landings in the TOP-5 in niches with average competition (landers were for the product, they were in the top for almost all requests related to the purchase of this product + even for requests with the name, without "buy")

How ojiegg wrote depends on the topic. I will add that geodependence is also important. The local site has the advantage. In general, you need to look at what you have with your competitors, if there are those in the search results that are the same as yours, then there are many chances. If not, then not much, but still there.
The canonical was invented for another.
