Will a multimode SFP module work on a single mode fiber?

Google didn't give me a definitive answer, so I'm asking here. There are erroneously brought HP J4858C SFP modules (Instead of J4859C), they are multimode, the fiber (patches \ route) on the object is single-mode everywhere, respectively, the question is - will the link between two J4858Cs rise, and will it be stable? The distance is small - about 200 meters. There is no way to check on the table.

It can start, but there will be no stability. torn pings, falling links. Better change.
