Wi-Fi connection not at maximum speed

There is a TL-WR841N rev8 router and a laptop.
Both support 802.11n 300Mbit.
They stand at a distance of 2 meters from each other in direct line of sight.
In this case, the laptop is connected at a speed of 144 Mbps.
Question: how to force a connection to 300Mbps?
Tried turning off the network card.

Actually the issue was resolved by installing dd-wrt and switching on the channel width of 40 MHz.
Now the connection is always 300Mb / s
