Why "you must compile individual stylesheets from the project directory" in response to Compass watch?

Moreover, it reacts normally to the "sass --watch sass:css" command, the file is compiled, but damn it, it's inconvenient to get into the terminal every time, and the formatting of the code turns out to be slightly crooked.
I have Xubuntu, if that.

Got it!
If someone has a similar problem, try this:
compass create ~/test && cd ~/
compass init
compass watch
---
watch or did not understand the Cyrillic alphabet in my "Documents / demo", or something, but only this one works option, without Russian characters.

Got the same error. I tried all the solutions described - nothing helped.
Ultimately, the problem turned out to be that the path to the files contained Cyrillic.
