Why won't Ubuntu boot on ASUS ROG GL703?
Hello.
I'm trying to run ubuntu-18.04.1-desktop-amd64 from an external hard drive on an ASUS ROG GL703 laptop .
Ubuntu was successfully installed on the same laptop, though I had to register it nouveau.modeset=0
in the boot option.
But after installation, it does not work. The download always stops at approximately the same place:

In short, the same garbage as with the installer. It had to be nouveau.modeset=0
in the right place. And I did it in the wrong place)) I thought that we were loading in verbose, but it turned out that we were not. For verbose, remove quiet splash
. Then it becomes clear that the problem is the same as that of the installer - you need nouveau.modeset=0
.
Try disabling ACPI support

setting the grub parameter 'nouveau.modeset=0' helped me
(the laptop is different, but the same with a more or less fresh video card at the time of purchase)
That's how it was for me. I decided to install
Ubuntu
- in principle (if everything is fine), then this video is enough

- the same)

I had an NVIDIA video card - accordingly, you need to use the nomodeset utility.
When loading the flash drive, I periodically pressed delete and pressed F6 in the menu that appeared and installed it. (All this is easily googled. It would seem that's all - but no, I downloaded it, but it doesn't load from the disk
anymore. The bootloader got lost somewhere - here's how to install it. Here you need to use the terminal (in Windows - the console - or the command line) ---- - help.ubuntu.ru/wiki/%D0%B2%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%81%D1%82...
At the same time, the screen is constantly dead - here you need to get into the settings and find - the screen lock - and cut it off (I had it set for 5 minutes)
Well, finally everything works well. Only the desktop is somehow strange. Then it dawned on me That I need to install a driver for the video card ------ Here's how it's done (Here again, the terminal (console) - https://linuxthebest.net/install-driver/
Now you can relax and enjoy freedom.
