Why won't CNC pages open in Joomla without index.php?

Problem: pages open only in the form "site.ru/index.php/page.html", the option "site.ru/page.html" gives a 404 error.
The site runs on Joomla 3.4.4. CNC as follows:

.htaccess settings are standard, no crutches. No suspicious plugins installed. Menu items have been created for the pages.
Tell me, please, in which direction to dig? Thank you.
