Why won't chrome install on ubuntu 14?

I decided to try to switch to ubuntu. Downloaded the latest LTS. Began to install, but it did not install. Black screen and all. Downloaded version 14. The installation went. Installed. But then another 2 hours trying to install the driver on the video card. In general, the drivers got up. Decided to download chrome. Googled how it's done. Tried. But nothing gets installed.

How to install? Why can't the package be found?

Isn't it easier to download from the link google.ru/chrome?
