Why USB-C/Thunderbolt port might not work?
Thunderbolt port stopped working on Alienware Area 51m R2 laptop.
For no apparent reason, the laptop stood on a stand and did not move.
The thunderbolt controller is visible in the device list without any errors. Tried different driver versions.
There are also 2 devices in the Software Ccomponents category:
Thunderbolt (TM) HSA Component
Thunderbolt (TM) Toast Component
Nothing happens when I plug in any device (which used to work fine).
In the BIOS, the ability to boot via thunderbolt is enabled, but the computer does not see the bootable usb-c flash drive.
Tried installing/reinstalling chipset drivers, thunderbolt drivers, updated bios to latest version, no effect. Installing a clean system also did not bring any effect.
Softina, which auto-updates drivers (from the Intel site), sees the controller, sees that it has the correct driver, does not show any problems.
No power is even supplied to the port (there is no charging when the phone is connected)
Is this already a 99% hardware problem, or is it still possible to somehow solve it without hardware intervention?

Check the usb connection on the motherboard, replug if necessary and try again. Alternatively, you can try reinstalling Windows cleanly.
