Why such multitasking in the manager from Chrome (Windows)?

With skype and chrome + a couple of small background applications turned on, I have 5+ gigs of RAM occupied, of which chrome takes the first place. And very original. Why is that, is it normal?

It is quite normal to run a separate process under each tab so that if one window crashes, it does not destroy the others. A side effect is increased memory consumption, since the processes are isolated.

Discover the concept of cache.
Is there something wrong with you? The memory available to you is a wagon and more. Why is there such a question at all?
