Why only through the browser works? Can all traffic go through TOR?

Not entirely clear. Installed on mac os TOR via port.
sudo port install tor
I set up socks proxy 127.0.0.1 port 9050, if I open it through a browser and do an IP check, it shows other countries (everything works)
But if I check ip through the
curl console suip.biz/ip/ It
shows the real IP
Why is that? And is it possible to put all traffic through TOR
