Why might cordova/phonegap not work?

Actually a subject. Installed using npm
npm install -g phonegap
Then I try to do:
phonegap create myApp
And nothing. Silence. I go to /var/log and... Where should I look? Where are the npm logs? Googled - didn't find anything
