Why isn't Wikipedia blocked in the hosts file?

Going to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc on my computer and opening the hosts file, I wrote in different ways:
127.0.0.1 wikipedia.org
127.0.0.1 ru.wikipedia.org
127.0.0.1 ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/
127.0.0.1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

But it still opens Wikipedia in the browser. Although other sites if I write their address in this file are blocked.
Why is this happening? And how to block Wikipedia?

You need to write 0.0.0.0 ru.wikipedia.org - then Wikipedia will be blocked.
In addition, it works a little faster.

A new trendy feature in many browsers is dns via tls, while records in hosts are ignored. If you execute in the console nslookup wikipedia.organd get 127.0.0.1 in response, then hosts is configured correctly, but the browser uses dns via tls and ignores your settings.
Well, as ky0 wrote - only domain names are written in this file, not links.

It's pointless to write URLs in hosts - it works with domain names.
Look in your browser console to see what IP address requests are sent to when you visit the wiki. If not on 127.0.0.1, then somewhere something has been cached.
