Why is WiFi lost on Ubuntu 14.04?
System: Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome
Wifi card: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter
I noticed that when downloading, the connection with the AP is lost, and the point is no longer defined in the list of networks. However, after turning off and on the card on the laptop, everything returns to normal. And it happens with enviable regularity. Does anyone have any ideas to solve this problem?
Update:
here is what came out in dmesg right after the disconnect:
[50207.085206] wlan0: authenticate with 00:06:31:d6:3f:5f

After restarting wpa_supplicant, a reconnection occurred and the connection was up again.
And so every time

I don’t know how effective it is now, but as a starting point ...
In short - troubles with energy saving, etc.
Something to do with energy saving.

try reading dmesg for power saving modes or errors.
and maybe wpa_supplicant is the issue - restart it manually the next time you lose connection
