Why is Ubuntu 18.04 randomly hanging?

Good day to all! I searched a lot on this issue on the Internet, and did not find an answer. The topics I found are only indirectly similar.

system Aspire A315-42 (0000000000000000)

The essence of the problem is that during operation at any time the computer can simply hang tightly, only the mouse works, the terminal call or any hot keys do not work. Shutdown - only rigid through the button. It doesn’t depend on the load at all, I can just watch a video or open a text editor and get a hang.
Who can faced such trouble? Computer bought recently, at the beginning of 20g. It is important to find out if this is a defect in the laptop itself, otherwise I’m trying something, I’ll find out, but it might just be a manufacturer’s defect :)
Ps thanks in advance ))

As far as I understand the problem is in the Linux kernel, try installing a newer kernel.

Problem with the processor power saving system.
Try turning off "C-State Control" in UEFI.

I have exactly the same processor as your AMD Ryzen 5 3500U. As for the freezes, it’s most likely a hard drive, by a strange coincidence, I also initially had a TOSHIBA disk)
The fact is that immediately after buying my laptop, I rolled Ubuntu into it and it also worked with brakes, sometimes freezing. I couldn’t understand everything, what kind of garbage and decided to upgrade the hardware - I added RAM and installed NVMe memory instead of an SSD hard drive.
The hangups disappeared , the system has been working stably for a month now, from which I conclude that the problem is in the braked disks from TOSHIBA: tyts1 , tyts2 .
My recommendation is this - roll a live assembly of ubuntu onto a good fast flash drive, boot up and work from it for at least a couple of days. If there are no freezes, then you need to install an SSD. If the budget allows, you can immediately put and check everything live.

Are there any errors in the system log? All answers must be sought first of all there.

Had the same problem on the laptop. There was no time to look for the reason, and when I saw advice to update the kernel here or on stackoverflow, I decided to update the distro right away. Updated to 19.10 and it completely solved the problem.
